1996, 28.5 33.5 x .75 inches, on found antique chalkboard that can still be written on with chalk.  Suwanee, Georgia, studio.

This is third of four paintings addressing identity. We are all different people at different times dependent upon the circumstances. This piece, on an antique chalkboard, addresses an archaic system of punishment for elementary school children that could affect their self esteem and future growth into adulthood. It still happens, but primarily through verbal abuse and shaming.  (I admit to having occasionally been guilty of this because I was always talking in class. It ultimately served me well as an adult when I sold advertising, and my own line of products for over 30 years of my 58 year professional life.)

Original available, priced at $1,350USD
