Streets of Gold (Habitat#3)

1991, 28 x 36 inches unframed, acrylic on canvas, Livonia, Michigan studio.

Exhibited once by invitation for COTS (Coalition for Temporary Shelter) fundraiser in Detroit in 1992. This is the third painting in the Habitat Series that eventually expanded to nine paintings. This piece addresses the plight of homelessness. The environment looks dirty, dilapidated and hopeless, as do the people, but the street is painted in “gold,” to reflect the “American Dream” that one can attain anything if they are willing to sacrifice and work for it. As with most of my work, the issues addressed decades ago still remain.

Original available, priced at $2,500USD
