Untitled 5
DUE TO THE MIXED MEDIA NATURE OF THIS ARTWORK, THIS PIECE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO BE SOLD AS AN ORIGINAL
1993, 24.5 x 36 x 1.5 inches unframed, acrylic, cheese cloth and thread on found wood. St, Charles Studio, Detroit.
Never exhibited.
When my studio was in West Indian Village, Detroit, there were many abandoned homes. I would occasionally go through the neighborhood and look for found objects to use in my work. This piece of wood had an unusual cut at the top that I thought could be a window. I found a smaller piece of old painted wood to fill in the space at the top of the piece to represent a dilapidated window sill, and used cheese cloth to represent the tattered curtain. The colorful abstract strokes celebrate the lives and memories that inhabited the residence.
Original available, priced at $750USD
